
The Story
Joan Baez’s landmark 1960 debut album was inducted into the Grammy® Hall of Fame in 2011 by the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences and selected for preservation in the National Recording Registry in 2015 by the Library of Congress.
In just four days, the then 19-year-old recorded her self-titled debut album largely single-handedly, using her acoustic guitar and her crystal-clear voice. Only occasionally did Fred Hellerman of The Weavers add additional guitar tones to the classic folk style of the songs.
