The Story

Zeppelin sage-wizard Robert Plant returns with Saving Grace, his first album alongside a new band, led by vocalist Suzi Dian. The project took shape during lockdown in the English countryside, where Plant forged a close bond with the ensemble - drummer Oli Jefferson, guitarist Tony Kelsey, banjo player Matt Worley, and cellist Barney Morse-Brown - after years of collaborative growth. This album revives a trove of century-old songs previously interpreted by artists including Memphis Minnie, Blind Willie Johnson, and Low, covering many a great American songbook entry. Plant calls the group "a songbook of the lost and found," and though it's a hymnary of a legend's in his sunset years, there's never a lost moment of joy and humour, even through an overarching desert gothicism. Nor is Plant staying rooted by any stretch: now after extensive touring across Europe, Saving Grace head to North America this fall in promotion of the record.
