The beats are pure G-funk - thick basslines, syrupy synths and Charlie Wilson's velvet hooks but there's a melancholy that lingers beneath the gloss. 'Snoop's Upside Ya Head' and 'Vapors' carry that duality: smooth as smoke yet edged with survival. Daz Dillinger, DJ Pooh and Soopafly hold the production down, giving Snoop space to stretch out as both storyteller and survivor. It's the sound of an artist learning to stay cool when the temperature drops.
