The Story
Remastered and Expanded Edition of The Coral’s Debut Album
This reissue of The Coral — the 2002 self-titled debut by the British indie psych-pop band — has been remastered and expanded across 2CD and gatefold 2LP formats, complete with a 12-page booklet. Originally produced by Ian Broudie, the album blends 1960s psychedelia, folk, and modern rock’n’roll. It debuted in the UK Top 5, went platinum, and earned a Mercury Prize nomination.
This edition includes two previously unreleased tracks from the original sessions — She’s The Girl For Me and Tumble Graves — along with all the B-sides from the era and the complete The Oldest Path EP (2001).
Hailed as Britain’s answer to The Strokes when they first emerged with their Shadows Fall EP in 2001, The Coral were celebrated for their raw talent and offbeat originality. NME declared them “the best new band in Britain,” and the acclaim only grew with the release of their debut.
At the time, their youthful energy (the oldest member was just 21) and genre-bending songwriting stood out: psychedelic folk, twang-pop, ska, 60s beat and more — often all within a single track.
“Psychedelic folk, twangpop, ska, psych rock, sixties beat and more came together on The Coral – often all at once in these oddly-good songs that were unwilling to structurally follow a straight line.” – musikexpress, November 2011
Track list:
Spanish Man
I Remember When
Shadows Fall
Dreaming of You
Simon Diamond
Goodbye
Waiting for the Heartaches
Skeleton Key
Wildfire
Badman
Calendars and Clocks
When I'm Here With You
